The Hidden Danger in Our Environment

Susana explains the alarming reality that our environment is loaded with hundreds of thousands of toxins that specifically target our endocrine system—the delicate network of glands that produce our hormones.

"There is no conversation about hormones or health balance without talking about toxins because our hormones, our little endocrine glands, every single one, especially our glands—they're enticed by toxins. Toxins love them. They're like magnets."

These environmental exposures are directly linked to unexplained infertility, low AMH (egg reserve), poor egg quality, and declining sperm counts. And while we can't avoid all toxins, Susana emphasizes that we do have control over our daily exposures through food, water, and personal care products.

Glyphosate: The Silent Fertility Destroyer

One of the most concerning toxins Susana discusses is glyphosate, the main ingredient in Roundup weed killer, which is the number one pesticide used in America (though banned in some European countries).

"Glyphosate is proven to cause non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and other exposure cancers and diseases. Infertility is one of them because your cells, your egg cells and your sperm cells—those are cells, and these toxins eat them up."

The highest concentrations of glyphosate are found in:

  • Oats
  • Wheat
  • Corn
  • Soy
  • Wine
  • Cotton (including non-organic tampons)

How Your Body Signals Toxic Overload

According to Susana, many common health issues are actually signs of toxic burden:

Skin Problems

Eczema, psoriasis, and acne can indicate that toxins are trying to exit through the skin, often accompanied by an overload of heavy metals or viral components.

Anemia

Surprisingly, anemia can be caused by toxins like glyphosate and aluminum, blocking your cells from oxygenating properly and preventing nutrient absorption.

Reproductive Issues

Poor egg quality, poor sperm quality, fibroids, endometriosis, and cysts are often connected to toxic exposure, particularly heavy metals.

Thyroid Imbalances

Thyroid dysfunction frequently relates to toxic burden, especially metals like cadmium, copper, and aluminum.

"These aren't genetic changes in our species—that would be way too fast. So it is an environmental exposure. What are we exposed to? More and more pesticides, more and more plastics."

Practical Steps to Protect Your Fertility

Susana offers several actionable recommendations that we can all implement:

1. Water Filtration

"Up to 80 percent of our toxic exposure comes from food and water. Start there."

Invest in a high-quality water filtration system that removes fluoride, heavy metals, and pharmaceutical residues. Simple Brita filters are not sufficient for removing these toxins.

2. Shower Filters

Install a shower filter to prevent absorption of chemicals through your skin during bathing.

3. Choose Organic and Plastic-Free

Eat organic foods whenever possible, and avoid foods packaged in plastic. Focus on whole, unprocessed foods from local sources.

4. Eliminate Plastic Water Bottles

"Stop drinking from plastic water bottles. They are estrogenic and are changing your biology, your hormones."

5. Detoxification Support

Consider natural detoxifiers like:

  • Fulvic acids
  • Chlorella
  • Spirulina
  • Chaga mushroom
  • Reishi mushroom

"The mushrooms are not a trend. They are not just a superfood. They are essential in our daily life, and they've been around for millennia for a reason."

6. Clean Up Your Skincare

Avoid products with:

  • Fragrance (unless from essential oils)
  • Sulfates
  • Parabens
  • Aluminum (especially in deodorants)

Key Takeaways

  • Your reproductive health is directly impacted by environmental toxins
  • 80% of toxic exposure comes from food and water—focus on these first
  • Simple changes like filtered water and organic food can dramatically reduce your toxic burden
  • Look for signs your body may be struggling with toxins (skin issues, thyroid problems, reproductive concerns)
  • Support your body's natural detoxification with clean food, water, and beneficial supplements

Susana reminds us that while toxins are unavoidable in today's world, we can take meaningful steps to protect ourselves: "The toxins are going to come in, but you can always empower yourself and strengthen your system to get rid of them."
